Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Self-Help EMDR Therapy Disclaimer

Free-EMDR.com provides tools for self-help EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. This service is not a substitute for professional mental health care. We strongly recommend that you use this site in conjunction with the guidance of a licensed therapist, psychiatrist, or other qualified mental health professional. Self-administered EMDR can bring up distressing emotions and memories. If you experience overwhelming feelings or symptoms, please seek immediate help from a qualified professional.

Limitation of Liability

By using Free-EMDR.com, you acknowledge and agree that you do so at your own risk. The operators, developers, and affiliates of Free-EMDR.com are not responsible or liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, injuries, or adverse effects that may arise from your use of this service. This includes, but is not limited to, emotional distress, psychological symptoms, or any other harm. You expressly waive all claims against the operators of Free-EMDR.com for any reason related to your use of this site.

Privacy Practices

Free-EMDR.com is designed to maximize your privacy. We do not store any personal information about you on our servers. All therapy data and preferences are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB and are encrypted with your password. No information is transmitted to our servers.

All information about your therapeutic history, session notes, and progress is stored locally in your browser's database. You may choose to back up this information by saving an encrypted export file to your computer. To sync across devices, you can save this file to a folder managed by your own cloud storage provider (such as Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive). Only you have the password to decrypt this backup. If you lose your password, your data cannot be recovered.

You can also connect your own cloud storage provider in the settings for automatic backup. The program communicates directly with the storage system that you choose. It does not transmit any credentials, files, or access permissions to our server.

We do not collect, store, or transmit your therapeutic data, session content, or personal notes to our servers. We do not use your data for analytics, advertising, or any other purpose. Your privacy and confidentiality are fully protected to the extent possible by modern web technologies. The site does not use any cookies to track you. The only information our servers have about you is your computer's IP address when you download the pages, so they can be loaded by your web browser. The software uses other information to assist you, like the folder name you use when you export your data. It keeps that information local on your computer in the local save file, and does not transmit it back to our servers.

Risks and Warnings

EMDR and other forms of therapy can bring up uncomfortable emotions, memories, and symptoms. You may experience distress, anxiety, or other psychological effects during or after using this service. If you feel unsafe or overwhelmed, stop using the service and contact a mental health professional immediately. This site is not intended for use in crisis situations.
